Millions of viewers watched the biggest Internet sensation of 2010: Molly the Barn Owl, a wild owl who nested with her mate, McGee, in an owl box constructed by Carlos Royal of San Marcos, CA. People were glued to the 24/7 live web cam feed as Molly and McGee and their family of four owlets, Max, Pattison, Austin, and Wesley went through their daily (and nightly!) routine.

Throughout the hatchings and the development of the young owls, cartoonist John Atkinson (known as VacaDude in the Molly Community) took a look at the lighter side of this wonderful event through a series of illustrations and an online comic strip entitled "Laughing Outside the Box".

However, the cameras have now been turned off, as the owlets have all fledged and headed off to live their adult lives--just as nature intended them to.

Now you can relive the event as seen through the eyes of VacaDude--a very silly man! Feel free to look around here at the sample cartoons, coloring book pages, and merchandise, and you will see that he managed to capture so many of the wonderously hilarious antics of these lovely, feathered clowns! Also, you can still purchase the eCOMIC for $9.99 by going to the subscription page. Doing so, you will receive the eBook compilation of the entire series, called "A MOD's Journal", as soon as it is completed (end of June, 2010).

That way, whether you were here watching the whole time or not, you can say it right along with us: "Gee, that was fun, and I was part of it!"
